Easy-To-Read Clocks Make Great Gifts
Author: Clockers
If you have always had poor vision, clocks can be a frustrating instrument for you. Even with the benefit of glasses or contacts, the numbers on wall clocks can still appear too small or blurry. If you know somebody who suffers from chronically bad vision, don’t just let them continue to squint at the clock. As a gift to them and their home, select a stylish digital wall clock with very large and very clear numbers.
Using the same reasoning, a wall clock would be a great gift for your grandparents or other elderly relatives. As people get on in years, their vision invariably gets worse. For this reason, they can also have trouble reading a simple clock. If this is the case with anyone in your life, help them decorate their home or apartment with a functional clock.
These Watches Are the (Atomic) Bomb
Author: Clockers
Atomic clocks are the most precise and accurate time-telling devices known to man. When electrons inside atoms change energy levels, atomic clocks pick up a microwave signal. This signal is consistent that it can be used to tell time. Over the years, scientists have been able to fashion progressively smaller atomic clocks - even as the technology became more accurate and sophisticated.
Today, this incredibly advanced technology has been harnessed and condensed into the atomic watch. Even though it’s fun to convince your friends that you have an atomic weapon attached to your wrist, the watches are actually only equipped to tell time. You’ll be guaranteed to possess the most accurate timepiece on the block, even if you don’t command a nuclear arsenal.
Clocks as Art
Author: Clockers
Nowadays, timepieces are not only for function, they can also be used as décor. A decorative analog wall clock can take the place of an otherwise expensive art piece. In fact, a lot of interior designers often use wall clocks as focal points in decorating. With the wide selection of wall clocks available, you can find what suits your tastes and your décor. Designs range from the novelty clock to the classic wall clocks of the Victorian era.
Wall clocks also make for great housewarming gifts; they’re useful and tasteful. You can’t go wrong with a wall clock. No room is complete without a clock in it so you can keep track of the time. Go ahead and get one for your living room, that blank wall in the foyer, or even the space in between the cabinets in the kitchen.
Getting on Track

I was in trouble. I was always late to work and this last Thursday I was two hours late as a result of oversleeping. But it wasn’t just the oversleeping that was causing me to be late; it is the fact that I just cannot manage my time when I am getting ready. I knew I would soon be fired from my job if I didn’t figure out some way to get out of the house on time.
My whole family knew of my problem and none of them wanted me to lose my job. My sister came over one day with a projection alarm clock. She suggested I put it in the bathroom (because I got ready there every morning). Her plan worked so well that a week later I decided to put a clock in every room of my apartment. I haven’t been late for more than a week now!
Moon Phase Clocks
Author: Clockers
As most people know, we have developed the months in our calendar to coordinate with the lunar cycle. While we operate on a lunisolar calendar in the US, it remains relatively true to the lunar phases. Although we now have a simplified system for keeping track of time, ancient civilizations had to go through the painstaking task of developing this system and tracking celestial bodies. Nowadays many calendars still depict the stages on the moon for reference.
Although the moon phases may seem trivial in today’s age, there are still some benefits to knowing the moon position. It is particularly important if you want to do any sort of star gazing and want to gauge the amount of light there will be in the sky. A moon phase clock will let you know the precise location and shape of the moon.
Turning Back the Clock

Twice a year my sleep schedule gets thrown out of whack by this so-called “Daylight Saving Time.” Albeit it does have some benefits—especially gaining an hour of sleep in the fall—but it causes me more headaches than I would like. First of all, it now gets dark at around four in the afternoon, which makes me feel tired and lethargic.
It also is a nuisance to go around resetting all of the clocks in my house. This chore isn’t so bad when we “spring forward,” but in the fall you have to go through 23 hours just to get to the correct time. I forgot to go through this tedious task with my digital alarm clock this weekend, and paid for it on Monday when I woke up an hour late.
The Manufactured Appeal of Vegas
Author: Clockers
Everyone knows that Las Vegas has become synonymous with drinking, gambling and general debauchery in the United States and around the world. People go to “Sin City” for birthdays, bachelor parties or just carefree weekends. The city has gone to great lengths to perpetuate this stereotype, including commercials, movies and corporate sponsorships.
Once you are in Vegas, the casinos and entertainment venues utilize a variety of tactics to ensure you stay there as long as possible. Patrons are given free handouts nearly everywhere, from a complimentary drink to a free night’s stay, to make sure they keep coming back. Another cagey trick that casinos employ is not displaying the time inside, making people forget how long they’ve spent at the tables. You will be hard pressed to find wall clocks anywhere in Vegas; be sure to have your own timepiece so you don’t get sucked in too far.
The Unparalleled Accuracy of Atomic Clocks
Author: Clockers
When purchasing a new clock the design and visual appeal are important, but the most crucial element of any timepiece is keeping good time. Analog and digital clocks do an adequate job, but atomic clocks keep the most accurate time known to man. These clocks are so accurate that they are the measure used to set standard times around the world. Atomic clocks use the signals that electrons in atoms emit to maintain the most precise time measurements imaginable.
Because of their accuracy, atomic clocks are used in a variety of ways including the control of TV signals and coordination of satellites. This amazing technology is now available in home clock models, which have built in receivers that calibrate themselves with an atomic clock. Although many of these models are advertised as “atomic clocks,” it really just indicates the way in which they are calibrated.
A Tiny Travel Companion
Author: Clockers
It’s easy to become a little disoriented when you travel through multiple time zones. Not to mention the jetlag you’ll be experiencing, trying to keep track of the correct time can be close to impossible. When you de-board your plane upon arriving in your vacation destination, the last thing you want to make your first priority is to ask a local what time it is. Life would be much simpler if you had a clock to take with you that automatically updated with every new time zone you crossed over.
Fortunately, this notion can be made a reality when you purchase a travel alarm clock. Tiny and lightweight, this travel companion is easy to pack into any suitcase. In fact, when I’m not traveling I always leave mine in my suitcase to make sure I never travel without it. Stow it on your nightstand wherever in the world you may be and it will always keep you up with the times.
Prankster uses for Clocks
Author: Clockers
My roommate in college was a heavy sleeper, and when I say heavy I don’t just mean a sound sleeper – she slept as often as possible. Every time I returned from class she was out like a light and even on the weekends she’d sleep in until four in the afternoon. Nothing seemed to be more important than the nearly 16 hours of sleep she accumulated every day. So one day after having grown tired of tip-toeing around in the dark I decided to play a little prank on Mrs. Sleeping Beauty.
It was a Tuesday afternoon and I had just been released from my evolution of religion class, but before heading back to our pad I stopped at the convenience store to pick up a few supplies. Shaving cream, feathers and a bullhorn were at the top of my list. When I walked through the door of our house, I made it my first mission to reset all of our digital alarm clocks to 1 pm; I also put away all the mirrors. Then I covered her as thoroughly as possible, head to toe, in shaving cream and feathers. Then I placed the bullhorn right next to her ear and squeezed. She leapt out of bed, looked at the clocks, assumed she was late for class and ran out the front door. She figured out she was being duped before she made it all the way across campus, but her appearance was responsible for many laughs that day.
